A65 Accident: The A65 has reopened after being closed for several hours following a serious road traffic collision on the Settle Bypass.
The incident, first reported at around 11:40 a.m., involved two to three vehicles, including a caravan or motorhome, which was reportedly left badly damaged, with debris scattered across the carriageway. The severity of the crash prompted a large emergency response.
At the height of the incident, two fire engines, five police vehicles, and two ambulances attended the scene. Police closed the A65 in both directions while emergency crews treated those involved, cleared the wreckage, and carried out investigations. Motorists were diverted through Settle via the B6480, causing delays in the area.
By 3:15 p.m., the A65 was fully reopened, allowing traffic to resume. Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of casualties or the circumstances that led to the collision. Anyone traveling through the area is advised to continue checking for the latest traffic updates.
